Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an experienced Illinois Litigation Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support one of our attorney clients. This role is ideal for a confident, self-directed paralegal who is comfortable managing litigation workflows independently, particularly within Cook County courts. Experience in Elder Law.
The position begins as a fractional role (approximately 60–74 hours per month) with the opportunity for expanded responsibilities and additional hours as trust is established. The target start date is January 5th or 6th, and onboarding will move quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- E-file pleadings and ensure filed documents are properly saved and organized
- Draft pleadings, motions, and proposed orders using existing templates and forms
- Manage case deadlines, court notices, and annual reporting requirements
- Coordinate courtesy copy production in compliance with judges’ standing orders
- Handle new client onboarding and ongoing client communications
- Communicate with clients regarding signatures, pleadings, payments, and case updates
- Prepare bond applications and coordinate with bondsmen and clients
- Calendar management and scheduling
- Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy as assigned
- Maintain organized digital case files and compliance tracking
Required Qualifications
- Illinois paralegal with strong knowledge of Cook County court procedures
- Proven experience in litigation and motion practice, Elder Law
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and deadline management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Clio
- Experience using Adobe for document preparation and management
- Prior experience supporting solo or small-firm attorneys
- Ability to quickly review and follow SOPs, training manuals, and templates
Compensation & Schedule
- Rate: $30–$35 per hour (fractional)
- Hours: Approximately 15+ hours per week (60–74 hours monthly)
- Work Arrangement: 100% virtual, with optional Chicago Loop office access
