JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant VP of Engineering will aid in the development of the Engineering and Project Management processes, tools, and methods that will enhance the delivery of services to our clients, directly interface with clients on business development opportunities and projects, and support the sales team with proposal development as needed. The Assistant VP of Engineering will assist with any assigned teams of multi-disciplinary engineers and architects who perform investigations, analysis, and designs for residential and commercial-related projects. Additionally, this individual will mentor less experienced professional engineers and designers while supporting/leading a range of multidisciplinary projects. The ideal candidate possesses 7+ years of engineering design and analysis experience for residential and commercial projects.

The prospective applicant should be a strong leader who has a desire to direct and grow a team of talented engineers and designers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for engineering topics related to your background and education
  • Mentor and develop team members to prepare them for greater responsibility within the organization
  • Meet with and interact with current and potential clients on various topics
  • Assist with development of annual departmental budget
  • Perform investigations, analyses, and designs for residential and commercial projects
  • Assist with leading the design and layout of engineering drawings
  • Assist with the overall technical work to ensure quality of deliverables
  • Assist with developing and implementing processes, tools, and methods to enhance the delivery of services
  • Assist with evaluating and providing feedback for the overall financial and business objectives of the department
  • Ensure department activities comply with applicable internal and external regulations, standards, policies, and procedures

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with business development activities to attract and retain clients
  • Assist with proposal development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of building codes
  • Good understanding of construction materials and methods including building framing, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Knowledgeable in consulting engineering and construction practices including preparation of plans and specifications
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good time-management and organizational skills
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Professional and team-oriented
