Job Description

We operate one of the highest-producing and performing mortgage teams in the country. We’re looking for a teammate with experience originating and/or processing mortgages to provide front-end support by gathering documentation, structuring loans, and ensuring a pleasant client experience throughout our pre-approval process. The teammate is also offered the opportunity to originate their own mortgages and will be compensated accordingly for their own self-generated business. In working with our team, they’ll learn best practices for originating mortgages at a high level of production.

The Loan Officer Assistant supports the team by ensuring proper documentation is collected from clients and the loan file is complete for submission to underwriting. They must maintain their existing license and are encouraged to originate loans from their own referral sources.

• Assists the Loan Officer in preparing preliminary loan packages for processing by obtaining missing documentation and other information from customers

• Utilizes information gathered by the Loan Officer to prequalify customers by utilizing various industry automated underwriting “AUS” portals to check eligibility

• Responds to customers’ general questions regarding policy and procedures, and helps with Fairway’s client portal

• Updates customers and real estate agents on their pre-approval progress.

• Coordinates and schedules meetings with clients and the loan officer once a pre-approval is completed.

• Maintains the Loan Officers’ databases of customer information

• Performs other administrative tasks, such as faxing, emailing, and making telephone calls, to support the Loan Officer as needed

• Originates loans from their own referral sources

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Solid knowledge and understanding of conventional, government (FHA/VA), and Jumbo loan requirements.

• Comfortable speaking with borrowers and referral partners

Required Experience:

• 2+ years of mortgage industry experience.

• NMLS licensed

This position is fully remote and open to highly qualified candidates residing in Southern California.
